Underpinning isn’t just “break the floor and dig.” It’s structural work that needs clean sequencing, controlled removal, and a finish that’s ready for the next trade.
DRM Demolition approach: we cut first, remove in a controlled way, and leave the site trade-ready — with an engineering mindset and zero chaos.

When underpinning makes sense
- You want more basement headroom (basement lowering).
- The foundation needs reinforcement or you’re correcting movement/settlement.
- You’re adding loads (addition, beam pockets, structural changes) and need proper support.
- You need a clean, controlled opening to rebuild the slab and layout.
(If you already have an engineer and drawings — perfect. If not, we can help you coordinate the next step.)
What makes DRM different
1) Precision slab cutting instead of “random breaking”
Most damage during underpinning starts at the beginning: uncontrolled hammering, ragged edges, and extra vibration.
We use diamond saw cutting to create clean, straight cut lines before removal.
Result: less collateral cracking, cleaner edges for forming/rebar, and a more predictable rebuild.
2) Clean, straight edges for rebuild (forms, waterproofing, framing)
A straight cut line matters because it dictates everything after: forms, inspections, re-pour, and finishes.
We don’t just “open it up.” We set the job up so the next steps are faster and cleaner.
3) Flat / flush finishing for ugly concrete and over-pours
Old foundations are rarely perfect: bulges, sloppy pours, uneven transitions.
Because we have flat sawing / diamond finishing capability, we can shave high spots and bring concrete flush where needed — so waterproofing, framing, and new slab interfaces sit properly.
Our underpinning scope (typical)
Included (project-dependent):
- Site protection and dust/debris control (keep the rest of the house clean)
- Precision slab cutting and controlled concrete removal
- Debris staging + haul-out/disposal planning
- Underpinning work performed to engineered drawings (staged/sectioned sequencing)
- Coordination for inspections as required
- Final cleanup and a trade-ready handoff (photos on request)
Not included by default:
- Structural engineering design and permit submissions (can be client-provided or coordinated)
- Asbestos-related work (we do not handle or disturb asbestos)
DRM_Demolition_Offer_Matrix_v1.0 - Basement finishing, plumbing/electrical, or full waterproofing packages unless specifically scoped
